Master's Programme in International Marketing Management, Double Degree possibilities

MIMM Double degree programmes
The DD program is aimed for the 1st year MIMM students who would apply to DD program during the spring semester of their first year of studies. The DD program will take place during the second year of the studies.
This Dual Degree Program involves SKEMA’s Master of Science in International Marketing and Business Development and LUT’s (MIMM) “Master’s in International Marketing Management” program.
Students admitted into the dual degree program receive a degree certificate from both universities provided that they fulfill the requirements of both universities. The Master’s program titled as “International Marketing Manage-ment”, takes app. two and half years, corresponds to the minimum of 120 ECTS credits and leads to the de-grees of Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration at LUT, School of Business and Manage-ment and Master of Science in International Marketing and Business Development (MSc IMBD) at SKEMA.
Due to accreditation of the French organisation “Conférence des Grandes Ecoles” given to the MSc programmes at SKEMA (since 2016) the dual degree students receive is officially certified and have national recognition in France.
The official requirements stemming from the accreditation mean that in the DD programme:
- There will be a compulsory period of work experience to help students to write the thesis: the work experience should last a minimum of 4 months and maximum of 6 months. This can be an internship or a temporary or permanent work contract in a relevant field to the specialization, and can be done anywhere in the world.
- The thesis submission deadline will be in September (research proposal in the spring, thesis writing spring/summer).
The structure of the second year in the MIMM (SKEMA-Dual degree) will be as follows:
- Autumn term (Sep-Dec) at LUT
- Spring term (Jan – Apr) at SKEMA Sophia Antipolis, 30 ects
- May – Nov: minimum four months’ work experience
- September: submission of MSc thesis
And the third calendar year have the following final steps for SKEMA:
- September-October: Oral defence in person or by Skype/Teams/Zoom (for SKEMA)
- December: SKEMA’s Degree conferment board meets (you get a degree in practice and would not be a student anymore)
- June: Degrees awarded (ceremony in Paris if you wish to participate)
The LUT Business Administration will select a maximum of four students for the MIMM dual degree program.
The places are fulfilled based on the specific selection criteria from the pool of students who apply to the program. The applicants shall fulfil all the application criteria explained below.
Basic requirement for the applicants:
Candidates to the MIMM / MSc IMBD Dual degree program must:
- Achieve a minimum of 570 PBT/88 iBT Toefl score or IELTS 6.5 (Note: if you have taken your Bachelor's de-gree in English you might not need to take the language test. If this would be the case please let us know.)
- Obtain a minimum of 3.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) on the scale of 5.0, (equivalent to a 3.0 at SKEMA, on the scale of 5.0) at LUT in their studies
- Be a student in good standing at LUT. Selection criteria to a MIMM (SKEMA DD) and the application process: Applications are submitted through LUT Mobility-Online by latest at 8.2.2023.
The selection to a MIMM (SKEMA DD) is based on the applications and the points are given as follows:
1) The grade of final B.Sc. thesis (max. 5 points) (on a scale of 1 to 5):
- 5 points: excellent final thesis: grade 5
- 4 points: very good final thesis: grade 4
- 3 points: good final thesis: grade 3
- 2 points: very satisfactory final thesis: grade 2
- 1 point: satisfactory final thesis: grade 1
If the final thesis has not been evaluated on a scale of 1 to 5, the average grade limits are adapted to the grade system of the thesis.
2) The average grade of subject studies at the previous degree-giving institution (Bachelor's degree) (max. 5 points) (on a scale of 1 to 5):
- 5 points: average grade 4.5-5.0
- 4 points: average grade: 4.0-4.49
- 3 points: good average grade: 3.5-3.99
- 2 points: average grade: 3.0-3.49
- 1 point: average grade: 2.5-2.99
3) Ects credits amount of MIMM-studies at LUT (max. 5 points)
- 5 points: 60 ects credits or more
- 4 points: 48–59 ects credits
- 3 points: 36–47 ects credits
- 2 point: 24–35 ects credits
- 1 point: less than 24 ects credits
4) The average grade of MIMM - studies at LUT (max. 5 points) (on a scale of 1 to 5):
- 5 points: average grade: 4.5-5.0
- 4 points: average grade: 4.0-4.49
- 3 points: average grade: 3.5-3.99
- 2 points: average grade: 3.0-3.49
5) Motivation letter (max. 5 points)
Applicants write a letter of motivation (max. 1000 words), based on which their motivation is assessed. In the let-ter of motivation, applicants demonstrate that they have thoroughly thought through their studies abroad and that the planned studies support the applicants' studies at LUT and career plans. It's possible to get extra point of the motivation letter if applicant has a good knowledge of French language.
The letter of motivation is given points as follows:
- 5 points: excellent motivation and reasoning for the exchange
- 4 points: very good motivation and reasoning for the exchange
- 3 points: good motivation and reasoning for the exchange
- 2 points: very satisfactory motivation and reasoning for the exchange
- 1 point: satisfactory motivation and reasoning for the exchange

At LUT, the programme is available for the MIMM students only.

Annually, the LUT School of Business and Management will select a maximum of 10 students for the MIMM double degree program with the UT. In case of over 10 acceptable applicants, the places will be granted in order of academic success during BSc studies and studies taken in MIMM programme.
Selection is carried out in following stages:
- Decision of nominations made by MIMM programme
- If nominated by MIMM programme, a student will get informed by UT and e.g. shall submit his/her application to UT
For MIMM – UT DD programme, students are required to gather 120 ects cr in total.
Admission criteria:
Students eligible to apply for the double degree must have approved study right in LUT MIMM programme. Applicants must have completed MIMM core or specialization studies at least 30 ects cr and should have average of grades at least 3.0.
Proficiency in English:
One of the following English language tests with the respective minimum scores is required:
- TOEFL – 90 iBT
- IELTS – 6.5
- Cambridge CAE-C (CPE)
- However, if students have finished 45-60 ects of studies in the MIMM programme at LUT, which is guaranteed fully taught in English, students are exempt from official language test.
The programme is for the MIMM students only.
MIMM double degree programme (DDP) students will start their studies at LUT. Studies at University of Economics, Prague (hereafter VŠE), are taking place on the second year of the studies.
Annually, the LUT School of Business and Management will select a maximum of two (2) students for the MIMM double degree program with the VŠE.
In case of more than 2 acceptable applicants, the places will be granted in the order of academic success during applicant’s B.Sc. studies and studies taken in MIMM programme.
Selection is carried out in two stages:
- First, applying at LUT during the application period. Selection and nominations made by MIMM programme during the first year of studies.
- After that applying to VŠE.
In total, DDP-students are required to complete 146 ects cr. (Please see the study plan for more information).
Students will prepare one Master’s thesis work only, which will fulfill the requirements of both universities.
After successful completion of the programme, the graduates will obtain two Master’s degrees:
- From LUT, Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Marketing Man-agement (MIMM)
- From VŠE, Master’s degree in International Business – Central European Business Realities
Proficiency in English The following certificates are accepted:
- TOEFL ( required points of the test in these versions: PBT: 567 , CBT: 227 , iBT: 87 )
- IELTS result 6,0 - 6,5 (Academic)
- Cambridge ESOL FCE
- or the equivalent of another internationally accepted English certificate corresponding to the "B2" level ot the CEFR .
The certificate is not required from the native English speakers and if the student's previous education was fully taught in English (this fact must be officially confirmed by a university).
