You may graduate after you have completed your studies, your public examination is over, your dissertation has been approved and assessed by the Academic Council and you have applied for graduation in Sisu.

Please note that you have to be an attending student for the term you are going to graduate.

Schedule:

Graduation is possible once all studies required for the degree have been completed, the dissertation/thesis has been approved as well as assessed by the Academic Council and you have applied for graduation in Sisu.

Starting from academic year 2023-2024 doctors may graduate non-stop. As a rule, the student will graduate within two weeks of the graduation request if all the requirements for it are met. Once you have applied for graduation, as a general rule you may participate in the graduation ceremony the following month.

Submitting a graduation request:

From academic year 2023-2024 onwards: You can apply for a degree when you have completed all your studies, your public examination is over and the dissertation is approved and assessed by the Academic Council. For those pursuing a licentiate degree, the thesis must have been approved by the Academic Council and all studies must be completed.

1. Make sure that your primary study plan in Sisu is the same as the one checked by the LUT Doctoral School.
2. In order to graduate, you must apply for graduation in Sisu, SISU Graduation instructions for doctoral students.
3. Answer the graduation feedback questionnaire, to which you will receive a link by email after your dissertation has been evaluated by the Academic Council.
4. Once you have completed your doctorate, you can apply for a Dissertation grant from the LUT Research Foundation.
