Chairperson's Greetings 2023

Welcome to our student community!

You've made an excellent choice to become a part of us. The entire community is eagerly looking forward to the arrival of all you new freshmen, and I am confident that each of you will find your own place here. Outside the lecture halls, the Student Union, guilds, and various hobby associations offer networking opportunities and activities, so there will surely be something for everyone. Right from the beginning, you will get to know all these possibilities!

In our community, everyone is welcome as they are, and everyone has the obligation to appreciate the diversity of individuals, refrain from making assumptions about others, and respect every member of the community. There is no place for any form of harassment or discrimination within our community. On your very first day, you will get to know the spirit of Skinnarila and what it means. I'll keep you in suspense until then! We will do everything we can to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and enjoys their time here.

After high school, I personally had no idea what I wanted to study. After serving in the military and taking a gap year, I decided to apply to LUT for an interesting field and with the goal of moving to a new city. However, I was most captivated by our student community, which warmly welcomed this new freshman in the autumn of 2019. Inspired by the start of my studies, I applied to become a tutor with the desire to give new students the best possible start to their studies. My journey as a student active has continued, leading me to become the Chairperson of the Student Union's board, but my goal as an student active hasn't changed much: I want to ensure that all our students have a study life that is as enriching as possible and that they can be part of the community. And this community is filled with amazing people who all strive for the
same, offering new and old students the opportunity to experience and influence their entire study period.

But now, enjoy the summer, and a new phase will begin in the autumn!
