Renewable Energy and Electrical Power Engineering (Double Degree)

The Master’s Programme in Renewable Energy and Electrical Power Engineering (Double Degree) combines two critical fields: renewable energy technologies and electrical power systems. It is offered in collaboration with Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), this unique programme equips you with interdisciplinary expertise to design sustainable electrical and energy solutions.

Degree structure and studies

This Master's Programme in Renewable energy and electrical power engineering is a two-year programme, which is 120 ECTS credits. It leads to two degree certificates: One from both universities; Master of Science in Technology, M.Sc. (Tech.) from LUT, and Power Engineering from LUH.

First year is studied at LUT in Lappeenranta and second year at LUH in Hannover.

Studies at LUT contain core studies including both energy and electrical engineering. Additionally, students choose specialization in either energy technology, electrical engineering, or combination of both.  Additional information about the courses can be found in  LUT study guide.

During the second year at LUH, in the first period, students choose 30 cr courses, see the courses with descriptions on the bottom of the page. All the courses are elective. The second period is dedicated for the master’s thesis that is made at LUH research laboratories. The main supervisor is from LUH, but work has supervisor also from LUT.

Admission

Eligible students apply to this programme during the last year of bachelor’s studies (unlike in other DD programmes in which it is during the first year of master’s studies). The Application period is once a year in January for the next academic year.
