Completing studies
At the beginning of each academic year, students must register as attending or non-attending for all their active study rights to retain their right to study. Also, students must update their personal study plan before they can register for any courses. We have gathered a list of all the things that old students must remember to do before each academic year below. Remember to do these sooner rather than later!
Checklist for degree students
You must register as attending or non-attending for all your active study rights to retain your right to study. More info on Registration for the Academic year -page.
Before each academic year you must update your personal study plan (PSP). You must update the course version to the ongoing academic year for each course that you are planning to take. Please note that you cannot register for any course before the version has been updated. After you update the version, you will also see if there have been any changes to the courses, such as changes in the teaching period or if the course has been replaced with another.
Please note that when you update the course version, the course will disappear from the Timeline. Therefore, you will need update your Timeline as well and add the courses back.

Please remember that there is a late enrolment fee (10 €/course, 40 €/exam)!
If you have been in student exchange during the previous academic year, take care of the transfer of credits in your LUT degree as soon as you have received all the grades from the exchange university. The transfer of credits is requested in Sisu. Read the instructions carefully before applying. A student, who has started their studies in LUT in a bachelor’s degree programme, cannot do their master’s degree studies until they have graduated from their bachelor’s degree, or they meet the requirements for transferring to master’s studies Continuing to a Master's programme -page. Remember to submit a notification about the fulfilment of the requirements by the deadline!
When you have completed all the necessary studies, you can apply for the bachelor’s degree. Read more about Graduation -page.
If you have completed your bachelor’s degree and you are starting your master’s degree studies, make sure that you have selected your master’s degree programme in your personal study plan, more information on Two degree programme levels in a study plan.
Make sure you have selected the current version of the degree, more information on Changing curriculum period in the PSP. By doing so, you have the updated degree structure and courses in your personal study plan. Also, you can use the timing template in your Timeline.
Student health care fee is obligatory for all degree students. No bill will be sent on the healthcare fee, and thus the student has to pay the fee on their own initiative. More information can be found Student Health Care Services - Degree students.
If you need help, contact us as soon as possible. The beginning of the academic year is extremely busy for all the personnel in LUT.
- If you don’t remember or don’t know how to do something, please check the IT Instructions and study tools first.
- If you have questions regarding “how can I do this in Sisu”, such as updating your personal study plan or how to register for the courses, contact your study advisor.
- If you have questions regarding transferring the credits, contact your study counsellor.
Student customer services can help you with enrolment for the academic year or late course or exam enrolment related matters.

You can apply for the master’s degree when:
- you have completed all the studies in your degree structure except the thesis,
- all the completed credits are in Sisu and your personal study plan is complete, and
- you have submitted the evaluated master’s thesis to LUTPub, the university’s electronic thesis archive.
