Double degree selection criteria
Below you can find detailed information about the double degree period abroad selection criteria.
- A ranking number is calculated for all applicants, and the this score may be utilized in the selection.
- Grade average should be at least 3.0.
- You cannot apply to your home country.
- The head of the degree programme can reject your application, if it would delay your graduation or it does not suit your LUT degree.
Ranking number
LUT Mobility-Online will automatically calculate your ranking number when you add the required information in the application form.
Ranking number = credits x grade average / number of semesters present |
- Include all the credits registered on Sisu at the time of application. Courses to be registered (even if it is anticipated in near future, and even if the courses have been already passed but not registered) cannot be included in the calculation.
- Grade average is marked on your Transcript of Records (available on Sisu).
- The current semester will also be included into the number of semesters. NB! One academic year has two semesters. (example: if you started at LUT in 2023 autumn, the number of semesters is 6 in the 2026 January application round)
- If you started at LUT directly in a Master's Degree Programme (having done your bachelor's elsewhere), and are applying during your first LUT year: mark 1,5 as the number or semesters present.
If you have held at least one of the following positions, one semester will be deducted from your number of semester – this will improve your score. Mark this information on the appropriate section of the application form. The system will then make the deduction automatically.
- Tutor for international students, tutoring secretary, study advisor, student union board member, chairperson of a guild, LUT Summer School secretary, ESN (Erasmus Student Network) Lappeenranta chairperson, LUTES chairperson.
Going abroad for a second time?
If you have already been an exchange student during your LUT degree, it is still possible to apply for a double degree period abroad, provided your studies have advanced on schedule. Consult your study counsellor about the possibility of going abroad for the second time.
