Work experience in BSc and MSc degree

Work experience coordinator for the Mechanical Engineering study programme is Katriina Mielonen.  To apply for study credits based on work experience, register for the work experience course in Sisu and gain access to Moodle, where the application, the work experience report, and copies of the job certificate can be submitted. Please note that a maximum of 12 ECTS credits of internship/work experience can be included in total in the BSc and MSc degrees. The work experience must support studies in mechanical engineering.

Students who started in BSc programme in 2023 or earlier

Starting from the academic year 2024-25, internships in engineering degree programs have been changed to work experience.

Internships in the degree structures of 2023-24 and earlier can be replaced with work experience or you can also choose not to complete the internship.

• If you want to replace the internship with work experience, you will have access to a new course called “Work Experience” when you update the “Internship” course to the latest version. Instructions for work experience and the necessary forms can be found in eLUT and Moodle.
• If you choose not to complete the internship, you need to modify your study plan in Sisu. In the free edit mode, you can remove the internship from general studies and seek approval for this exception through Sisu. Sisu instructions for free modification mode can be found in eLUT. Please note that with the removal of the internship, 2 credits are reduced from the study plan. In this case, the internship must be replaced with another course in other study module so that the 180 credits of the bachelor’s degree are completed.
