In order to make the publishing agreement, submit the following documents to the LUT Academic Library at the latest 25 calendar days before the public examination:

• signed ACTA application form
• signed publishing agreement
• manuscript of the dissertation
• the publishers' permissions to include the articles in the dissertation

When the publishing agreement has been signed, the LUT Academic Library sends you the ACTA serial number, the ISBN and ISSN codes, as well as the ACTA appendix.

LUT University dissertations are printed in LUT University Press. After adding the publishing numbers received from LUT Academic Library to your dissertation, send the dissertation to LUT University Press at the latest 23 calendar days before the public examination. Include also the cost center number where the invoice for the printing will be sent. Your school is responsible for the printing costs so you may get the number from your supervisor. 

LUT University Press adds the cover pages, scales the work into B5 size and prints a draft version of the dissertation. You, LUT Academic Library and LUT University Press check the draft together (only small changes are possible at this stage).

You must send the final, checked version of the manuscript to LUT University Press at the latest 15 calendar days before the public examination. Usually between 20 and 50 dissertations are printed for the public examination, over 50 books can be printed for specific reasons. The supervisor or person responsible for the cost center must approve the order before the printing can start. You should agree with the LUT University Press on how the printed dissertations are delivered to the auditorium.

The final, printed version of the dissertation must be on public display at the university 10 calendar days before the public examination. LUT Doctoral School takes care of this.

LUT Doctoral School also posts the dissertation to

• LUT supervisors and to the school's office
• opponents

Once you receive the final electronic version of your dissertation from the University Press, upload it to DOCIS (Dissertation-tab à Final dissertation for the public examination) immediately. After you have done so, your opponent and your supervisors will receive a notification about it.

It is also your duty to deliver the dissertation to the parties you wish, such as the persons and communities supervising or funding the work at different stages, other co-operation parties, preliminary examiners, friends and relatives.

If some minor mistakes (e.g. spelling, punctuation) are noticed after printing, they can be listed with corrections in an errata-list. LUT University Press prints the errata and you are responsible for adding it to the printed dissertations. LUT University Press also sends the errata to LUT Academic Library where it will be attached as a separate PDF file to the electronic version. 1. Deliver the documents to LUT Academic Library at least 25 calendar days before the public examination

• The library gives the student the ISBN and ISSN numbers as well as the ACTA Appendix to the inserted in the dissertation

2. Deliver the finalized dissertation to LUT University Press at least 23 calendar days before the public examination

• The press will print a draft version, which will be checked by the student, LUT Academic Library and LUT University Press

3. Deliver the final (checked and revised) version of the dissertation to LUT University Press at least 15 calendar days before the public examination

• LUT University Press will print the dissertation

4. The printed dissertation has to be on public display for at least 10 calendar days before the public examination

• LUT Doctoral School will put the dissertation on public display
