Exam - In case of problem

Problems with booking an exam time

Problem: I can't book an exam visit more than 30 days in advance. The system shows an error message.
Solution: In most universities, you can book an exam time up to 30 days in advance. In LUT and LAB own exam spaces, reservations can be made a maximum of 90 days in advance.

Problem: I can only make a reservation for one week, even though the exam period is longer.
Solution: Check that the time on your device is in Finnish time. The reservation calendar works incorrectly if the clock on your own device differs from the time on the Exam server.

Problems during the exam

There is no technical help available during the exam. If you encounter one of the problems listed below, try the respective solution. If you are not able to continue with your exam (the solution is not on the list or the problem cannot be solved) act as follows:

  1. Log out from the computer
  2. Leave the exam room
  3. Report the interrupted exam and its cause as soon as possible to address: opetushelp@lut.fi. Include the following information in the email:
    • your name and student number
    • name and code of the exam/course
    • the exact time of the interruption (date & time)
    • description of the problem
  4. Book a new exam time when you receive an acknowledgement of the problem (and possible further instructions)

Starting the exam

Problem: No image on the computer's display
Solution: If there is no image, move the computer’s mouse to wake up the display. If the display does not wake up, check that the power is on by pressing the power button on the bottom-right corner of the display. Also check that the computer is switched on. If there is still no image, leave the room and notify about the problem as described above.

Problem: Image appears on the display, but the computer is stuck. An error message appears on the screen: "Interactive Sign-in process initialization has failed".
Solution: The computer must be turned off and restarted. The computer's central unit is behind the display, press and hold the computer's power button for a few seconds until the computer turns off. Let go of the button, wait a moment and press the power button to restart the computer. The computer automatically logs in to the Windows' desktop. If the error recurs, leave the room and notify about the problem as described above.

Problem: How do I type the @ sign with the Finnish keyboard layout
Solution: With the Finnish keyboard layout, the @ sign is written with key combinations AltGr 2 or Ctrl Alt 2

Problem: I logged in to EXAM, but I get the message "You have no exams for today".
Solution: Make sure you are on the right exam computer. You can only take the exam with the computer number that is marked on your booking confirmation.
