Studying in Cross-Institutional Networks
Updating the language courses in the study plan, determining course equivalencies, and registration
Go to the "Structure of studies" tab and select your primary study plan, if you have more than one.

In your study plan, go to the section listing your uncompleted language courses, our case is the Swedish course KR00DA08 version of academic year 2024-2025.

Click on the course name.
Phase one: update the course version to 2025-2026 (LUT). From the drop-down menu, select version 2025-2026, and then select "Swich to this version" from the pop-up window.

Phase two: Select tab "Equivalences and Substitutions" Select the corresponding course from the list (in our case, KR00DJ93) and then close the window by clicking the X in the upper-right corner.

When you return to your study plan, you will see that the original course has been successfully replaced. A double arrow and the message "Equivalent selected for the course" will appear below the course code to confirm the swap.

You can proceed to registration. Select "Register”. Some courses require you to choose an implementation before signing up. Simply search for the course and select the appropriate implementation for your registration.

Please double-check the information. Unlike when registering for LUT courses, you must give your consent for your information to be shared through the Cross-Institutional Study Information Service.

In many language course implementations, your registration will remain in the "Registration being processed" status during the registration period.

After your registration has been processed, you will see whether it has been accepted or rejected; in the example, it has been accepted, as indicated in the "Registration processed" column.

Once you have completed the course, this information will be automatically transferred to LUT SISU.
Course registration for language courses in the degree programs, starting August 1, 2026
You do not need to know whether a course in your study plan is offered by LUT, but if you wish, you can check this, for example, as follows. If you are not interested, skip to the “Registration” section.
Go to the "Structure of studies" tab and select your primary study plan, if you have more than one.

Your study plan includes courses offered by the Language Center, for which you register through the national cross-university study portal. To view this, click on "KR00DJ93" and scroll down in the window that opens to the "Responsible persons and contact information" section, where you will see the information: Responsible Organisations: Language Center (LAB) 100%.

Adding cross-institutional courses to study plan and registration
My profile – Study rights you see which cross-institutional study networks are linked to your study right.

Scroll down to reach "Network right to be included in the study right". This section displays the networks you can participate in. These study rights are typically given for one academic year, during which you must complete all required parts of the course assessments.

Go to the "Search" section in the top banner and select "Cross-institutional courses".

There are many ways to search for courses; here we’ll show you how to view the available courses in a specific network and add a course to your study plan. Our example student is eligible to study in the selected network, and once the selection is made, the available courses will appear in the search results.

Clicking on "Professional Reading (3cr) " opens a window where you can add the course directly to your study plan or save it to your course cart for later. The course cart allows you to quickly select and add multiple courses at the same time.
Select "Add to the plan".

The "Place the course in the plan" window will open. If needed, set the study plan as your primary plan and choose the target module for the course. Click "CONTINUE" to proceed.

You must preview and confirm your selections. If everything is in order, click "CONFIRM AND GO TO PLAN."

In this example, we selected "Other elective language and communication studies"; let’s go to the corresponding section in the study plan. The course is now displayed.

Don't forget to register for the course!
Go to the "Registration" menu.

Search for the course and click "Select a course implementation".

Make your selections and click "Confirm."

If registration for the implementation is open, please register at the same time.

Please double-check the information. Unlike when registering for LUT courses, you must give your consent for your information to be shared through the Cross-Institutional Study Information Service.

If the "Registration with Immediate Confirmation" feature is not enabled for the implementation, your registration will remain in the "Registration being processed" status. Once the registration period ends, your registration will be moved to the "Registration Processed" group.

LUT and its partner universities have established an educational cooperation agreement, meaning you do not need separate approval for courses completed through cross-study networks. However, please keep LUT’s degree regulations in mind; for instance, a course cannot be counted toward your degree if its content duplicates a course already included in your study plan.
