RPL of languages from elementary level
Language skills acquired in pre-university secondary education cannot be validated or demonstrated. If a student has prior knowledge of a language acquired outside higher education, he or she will be directed to continue studying that language at his or her own level of proficiency. Non-formal language and communication skills, such as those acquired on the job, can be demonstrated by means of a test of competence.
Student´s mother tongue cannot be validated or demonstrated as a foreign language in language courses that are on CEFR A1-B1 levels. Studies in the mother tongue can only be chosen from level B2 onwards.
For students whose mother tongue is not Finnish, the Finnish as a second language (s2) studies are, as a rule, taken only from the student´s own level onwards.
