Scholarships for graduating within target time
The faculties award a scholarship to the student who graduates within the target time.
Students admitted to the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
Date of graduation from the beginning of the Bachelor's degree taking into account legal basis absences.
Bachelor's degree
- Max. 3 years after graduation from a BSc , the scholarship is worth 400 euros.
Master’s degree
- Max. 5 years MSc graduate, the scholarship is worth 300 euros.
Students admitted directly to a Master’s degree
Time to complete the degree from the start of Master’s studies taken into account legal basis absences.
- Max. 2 years MSc graduate, the scholarship is worth 300 euros.
A Webropol questionnaire will be sent by email in the month following the graduation month (sender LUT.graduation@lut.fi) to graduates who are eligible for the scholarship. Please also check your spam folder regularly. Scholarships are generally paid within two months of graduation. Recipients of the June and July scholarships will receive the questionnaire at the beginning of the autumn semester and the scholarships will be paid in September and October at the earliest. The deadline for responding to the survey is one week.
A Degree passed with distinction
A bachelor's or master's degree is passed with distinction when the degree is completed in the target time and the weighted average of the degree is at least 4.00 and the grade of the thesis is 5.
The amount of the scholarship is as follows: Bachelors 500 euros and Masters 800 euros.
The weighted grade average of the degree is displayed in the transcript of studies for bachelor's and master's degrees. In the calculation of the weighted grade average, all the courses passed on a scale of 0–5 required for the degree, including the thesis, are taken into account. The extent of the course as ECTS credits is used for the weighting.
No weighted average is given to the degree if more than half of the credits in the degree have been evaluated in a way other than using a scale of 0–5. A degree cannot be considered passed with distinction if no weighted grade average has been calculated for it.
Recipients' information is obtained from a Webropol survey sent to the recipients of the target time scholarships.
Foundations' scholarships for bachelors
The Society for Viipuri School of Economics (VITAKO) awards scholarships of 300 euros to students who have carried out their bachelor’s thesis work for a company.
The thesis supervisor records the company for which the work was carried out in the evaluation form.
The student services submit proposals to VITAKO twice a year.
The names of the students who graduated from a bachelor’s degree programme by the end of March are forwarded to VITAKO in April and the names of students who graduated by the end of November are forwarded in December.
The student services secretaries request the students’ bank account numbers for the proposal to VITAKO. A graduate is eligible for the scholarship if he or she is still a student at LUT. VITAKO decides on the scholarships.
The PHP Foundation awards scholarships of 500 euros to Software and Systems Engineering students who have carried out their bachelor’s thesis work for a company.The students of the program are not awarded any other scholarship for carrying out their bachelor's thesis work at a company.
The thesis supervisor records the company for which the work was carried out in the evaluation form.
The student services submit proposals to PHP twice a year.
The names of the students who graduated from a bachelor’s degree programme by the end of April are forwarded to PHP in May and the names of students who graduated by the end of November are forwarded in December.
The student services secretaries request the students’ bank account numbers for the proposal to PHP. A graduate is eligible for the scholarship if he or she is still a student at LUT. PHP Foundation decides on the scholarships.
Currently, scholarships cannot be paid into Russian accounts. If the scholarship recipient does not provide the bank details to which the scholarship can be paid within one week of being notified of the scholarship, the scholarship will be forfeited.
