Registration for the Academic year for new students

After accepting the study place, continue via the My Studyinfo service to enrolment in the OILI enrolment service. Registering as attending or non-attending for the academic year is compulsory.

New bachelor’s and master’s degree students must enrol for all their active study rights by the deadline for accepting the study place.

If you accepted a study placement at LUT before this academic year and registered as non-attending, you must enrol for the academic year via the OILI service (by 10 July 2025, 3 pm). Enrolment begins on 1 May 2025.

In the connection with registering as attending, you must pay the Student Union membership fee via the OILI service The fee is mandatory for all students completing a degree and it is paid annually. More information on Student Union website.

If you fail to enrol by the deadline, you lose your study right. If you want to start your studies and to enrol as a student later, you must apply for the reinstatement of your right to study from the university and pay the fee charged for the processing of the application (€50) pursuant to the government decree on fees for university services (1082/2009). This application may be submitted without taking part in the student selection process. Please contact opinto@lut.fi for further instructions.

Registration as attending for new bachelor’s and master’s degree students

Only students who have registered as attending have the right to take courses, register studies in the study register and to graduate. A student registered as non-attending may not participate in tuition or join the student union.

Registering as attending as a new post-graduate student at LUT Doctoral School

Accept the offer of admission by the deadline at www.opintopolku.fi (My Studyinfo). Once you have accepted the offer of admission in a binding manner, you can transfer to the OILI enrolment service via the My Studyinfo service to register as attending for the academic year.

Registering as non-attending as a new bachelor’s or master’s degree student or doctoral student

You may only register as non-attending for your first year of studies for the following reasons:

conscription or voluntary military service
leave of absence from studies due to birth or adoption of a child or
illness or injury that prevents participation in tuition

If the statutory grounds for absence only pertain to a term during the academic year, you can still register as non-attending for the entire academic year. This also applies to situations in which e.g. the military service or maternity leave begins in January of the first year of studies or ends in December of the first year.

Documents verifying the statutory grounds for an absence must be sent to the student services to opinto@lut.fi or as a secure email by 15 September 2025.

Accepted documents (copies are accepted):

Call-up orders or service certificate with the start and end date (the number of service days does not suffice)
Kela’s certificate on the maternal, paternal or family leave period with a start and end date
a medical certificate of the illness/injury with start and end dates.

If you do not have a statutory reason and a valid certificate for your absence, you must register as attending.

The documents must be delivered in Finnish, Swedish or English.

If you fail to deliver the documents verifying the statutory reason for your absence, or to submit an explanation for their delayed delivery, by 15 September 2025, you will lose your right to study.
