Continuing to a Master's programme

After completing a bachelor’s degree at LUT

You can begin to take master’s level courses once you have graduated as a bachelor in technology or economics and business administration.

You can also take courses included in a master’s programme if

  1. you have completed a bachelor’s thesis (grade registered in Sisu), and you have completed at least 158 credits. (B.Sc. in Software and Systems Engineering students at least 156 credits)
    or
  2. you have submitted  an acceptable bachelor’s thesis to the supervisor for review before the deadline for registration for courses of the period in question, and you have completed at least 158 credits.(B.Sc. in Software and Systems Engineering students at least 156 credits)

If you have yet to graduate as a bachelor but you meet the requirements for transferring to master’s studies, you can sign up for courses via Sisu. In addition, you must submit a notification about the fulfilment of the requirements by the deadline for registration for the courses arranged during the period in question. Note that the notification is valid only one academic year so in case you have submitted a notification last academic year and have not yet completed bachelor's degree, the notification must be submitted again for the new academic year.

If you have had an exchange period and the requirements for master’s studies are met with exchange studies, send a transcript of your exchange studies and/or your own list of studies with credits by email to your study counsellor. Also mention your exchange studies on the form.

After the registration deadline, checks are carried out to ensure that the requirements are met. These checks and updates may also be carried out during the teaching periods. The fulfilment of the requirements is also checked in connection with late registration.  In the assessment of the fulfilment of the requirements, an illness is accepted as grounds for the slow progress of studies.  Mention such an illness in your notification and contact also your study counsellor as soon as possible.

If you fail to submit a notification or the inspection reveals that you do not fulfil the requirements, your registration for master’s degree courses will be rejected in connection with the check carried out after the registration deadline. You will be sent a notification of rejection.

If you meet the requirements and are admitted to the master's level courses, you will not receive a notification.

Deadlines for meeting the conditions and submitting notifications:

For 3rd period:

  • submission period for notifications December 1st 2025 – December 29th 2025
  • the bachelor’s thesis must be submitted for review by December 29th 2025

For 4th period:

  • submission period for notifications January 15th 2026 – February 23rd 2026
  • the bachelor’s thesis must be submitted for review by February 23rd 2026

Summer studies

You will not be permitted to take master’s degree courses if you fail to meet the requirements, even if you have started some of the courses.

In this case, you must sign up for the course again when it is arranged the next time if you meet the conditions then. You must also fill in the registration form again if you have not completed your bachelor’s degree.

Note! Students who have completed their bachelor’s degree take precedence when students are selected for a master’s degree course if the course has a limited number of places.
