Extension for study right time - Sisu

If your study-right is about to expire by the end of the current semester, you will see a notice-board at your Sisu front page: If you cannot complete your degree within the time-frame of your study-right, you should apply for an extension. Make sure you have time for graduation process.

Extension considers both phases in two-phased degree if the lower decree is not completed.

You will see notice-board on all your study-rights if they are also expiring.

Under notice-board you find a link Apply for extension.

If your study-right is already expired, you should apply for an extension according to the instruction you find from here.

Press the arrow on the right side of your own name, My Profile > Study rights

At your study-right you see blue button Apply extension

Click the button:

Opens 3-phase extension application

1. Information of your study-right and registrations

2. At your planned studies you will see your timing for future studies.

3. Decision

Decision may be positive or negative. If extension is granted it will only be for one semester or one academic year at a time.

An extended study right may be granted if the student has a realistic possibility to complete his or her studies within a reasonable time-frame. The amount of studies completed, earlier extensions granted and the progress of the studies during earlier extension periods are a factor in whether or not an extended study right can be granted.

After sending the application in Sisu send the attachments by email to the study counsellor of your degree programme.

Note! If you want your decision by mail, you will get in few post days in written. Your granded extension will be seen right away at your study-right in Sisu.

Do not write any personal discreet information (like medical history) at your application and all attachments should be sent by e-mail to your degree programmes study counsellor.

Attachments needeed:

official documents, on what grounds you are applying extension
Scheduled, free-format plan of unfinished thesis written by the student and accepted by the thesis supervisor.

After sending the application you can see it by clicking Show application -button

You can cancel your application before it is taken in action by clicking Withdraw the application -button if you click, yes withdraw the application, you cannot send it again.
