LUT University is one of the world’s best universities.
LUT University is among the world's top 300 universities in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. LUT is among the world's top 400 universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021 for Engineering. LUT School of Business and Management (LBM) is among the world's top 175 business schools in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021 for business and economics subjects.
In the most recent QS rankings published in June 2021, LUT's position was 414th among a total of 1300 universities listed. LUT is one of the world's 20 most promising and rapidly developing challenger universities according to a report by the Firetail consulting firm.
LUT offers studies in the field of business administration and in the field of technology. LUT University will start degree programmes in social and behavioural sciences and communication and information sciences in autumn 2023.
Several of LUT's degree programmes have passed international accreditation. Through international accreditation, LUT strengthens the quality assurance of the education, as well as international comparability of the qualifications.
Accreditation is a guarantee of high quality, international recognition and continuing development of the qualifications awarded at LUT. We are training a new generation of problem-solvers and we interact with the rest of society and are an active partner for the research community and industry. LUT graduates’ employment rate is 95 % one year after graduation.
We have campuses in Lappeenranta and in Lahti, approx. 6000 students and 1200 staff members. On campuses we have nearly 90 nationalities and one third of first-year students are foreign nationals.
The rector of LUT University is Juha-Matti Saksa. The university has two vice rectors. Jaana Sandström is responsible for education and Jari Hämäläinen for research and innovation.
As a public university, the supreme decision making body of the university is the Board, which is responsible, among other things, for determining the university's operations and key financing objectives, as well as overall strategy and management principles. Acting as Chairman of the Board is Teresa Kemppi-Vasama.
