Tutor training/International Student's Peer Tutoring course
Students chosen to be peer tutors need to take part in tutor training. International Student's Peer Tutoring course is held in spring, in the fourth period. The training is compulsory for all peer tutors, and students who do not take part in the training will not be able to tutor in the coming academic year, starting in late August. If the tutor has taken part to the training previous years the training is not needed.
In the training the tutor will get tools for leading an international group of students, learn the tasks of the international tutor and get familiar with the services for international students. In addition to this the training includes lectures on themes like cross-cultural communication, motivation, and time-management.
In the end of the autumn semester, in November/December, tutors will return a tutoring report and feedback questionnaire and receive the tutoring payment in the end of the year. When the course requirements are all fulfilled, tutor will also receive 3 ECTS for elective studies in subsequent January.

Tutoring payments for international tutors from January 2025 onwards: It is 150 € per tutor + 25 € per tutee with international background + 10 € per tutee with Finnish background.
