The transcript of records contains all the studies included in the degree, completed modules and their number of credits, grades and the total number of ECTS credits in the degree. The transcript shows the weighted average grade of all completed courses, including the final thesis. The average grade of the degree is calculated for all passed courses assessed on a scale of 0 to 5.
If over half of the ECTS credits for a degree have been assessed on a scale other than 0–5, no grade average will be calculated.

The transcript of records for the doctoral diploma also includes information on the dissertation, public examination of the dissertation, opponents and the custos.

The Diploma Supplement is given automatically and free of charge to all graduates.

The Diploma Supplement is intended particularly for international use. The Diploma Supplement facilitates access to international jobs and improves the recognition of qualifications for academic and professional purposes.

The Diploma Supplement provides information on the university, studies completed, the academic level of the qualification, the content of the degree and status in the national higher education system. In addition, it provides information on the function of the qualification.

LUT’s Diploma Supplement complies with the model developed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO and it includes a description of the Finnish education system prepared by the Finnish National Agency for Education and approved by Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture.

The ECTS Grading Table is an attachment to the Diploma Supplement. The grading table provides a statistical distribution of grades for a specific degree programme, calculated over the past two years before the year of granting the certification. It indicates the number and the percentage of students who gained the grades mentioned in the transcript of records and gives a clear indication of the student’s performance in relation to the previous cohorts.

You will receive a link to your personal, secondary e-mail address in SISU (NOT LUT e-mail). With this link you are able to download the certificate within 30 days of receiving the message. Update your personal email address in Sisu well in advance of submitting your graduation application. If you do not download the certificate within this time, the link will expire, and you will have to request a new electronic certificate with links from LUT at an additional cost.

You should upload your official Degree Certificate to a location where it won't easily get lost or fall into the wrong hands. Each saved certificate is your official degree certificate. You can rename the degree certificate, but you cannot make any other changes to it, such as deleting pages or adding/removing text or open it in Word in editing mode, as it will break its security and the certificate will no longer be official.

You can download your certificate:

• To your own files, for example to a cloud service, computer, external hard drive or memory stick.
• You should save your certificate in several places so that you have a back-up copy.
• Each unedited, saved copy is an official certificate.
• The location where the file is saved should also be such that the certificate can be easily attached to the job application.

Digital degree certificates awarded by LUT meet the highest EU level requirements. The verification of an electronic certificate is easier and more reliable than the verification of a paper certificate. The authenticity of the certificate can be verified using the identification services of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency or through the LUT's website.

Once you have applied for graduation at Sisu, you can pick up a diploma folder from Student Customer Service during opening hours if you wish to keep a paper copy of your diploma in the folder. We do not send diploma folders by mail. Participants in the graduation ceremony will also have the opportunity to receive a folder in the hall.

The LUT University archives electronic certificates. If the electronic certificate that you have downloaded is lost, you can order electronic degree certificate from the university’s LUTShop. A fee of 40 € is charged for sending a new certificate link.

The digital certificate is the student’s official degree certificate. When printed on paper, the copy of electronic certificate is not an official document.

An electronic certificate is valid in most countries. We provide certified copies for individual needs - preferably the student will provide an electronic certificate. If you are informed that an electronic certificate is not valid, please contact LUT.graduation@lut.fi. Your situation will be assessed and, if necessary, you will be advised on how to proceed.

You can collect the degree certificate for your bachelor's degree from the Student Customer Services (2nd building, 3rd floor, room 2313, Lappeenranta campus).

Degree certificates that have not been collected will be sent to the graduate as a registered letter (must be collected from the post office) to the address given in the graduation application.

Master’s certificates and doctoral diplomas are awarded in the graduation ceremony. If you do not participate in the ceremony, your certificate will be posted to you as a registered letter on the first working day following the ceremony to the address you gave in Sisu.

If you want your certificate to be delivered abroad via a courier service (e.g. DHL), you must order and pay for the delivery yourself via the courier service so that the certificate can be picked up from the main lobby of the university (Yliopistonkatu 34, Lappeenranta).

You can receive an original certificate once. However, if you lose your certificate or it gets destroyed, you can request a certified copy from the archives. A new degree certificate is not granted if the graduate changes his or her name or his or her personal identity code is completed with additional digits (not changed).
