Blended Intensive Program (BIP) at Lappeenranta Campus on 18. – 22.5.2026
Developing Global Citizenship through Interculturality and Sustainability (5 ECTS)
This course will be carried out in co-operation with partners from EUList Alliance with students and teachers coming from 7 countries.
To whom: Bachelor or Master students of LUT, 6-10 students will be selected.
Learning objectives:
- To learn about global citizenship and its role in sustainable development goals
- To understand cultural similarities and differences and theoretical frameworks connected with them
- To develop a global mindset and intercultural competence through working in multicultural teams
- To learn about how to manage diversity and boost inclusion at workplaces
Key contents:
- Understanding global citizenship, sustainable development goals and cultural implications relevant to their implementation
- Understanding culture, cultural differences and similarities and developing intercultural sensitivity
- Awareness of inequalities for selected groups of minorities
- How to manage cultural diversity at work
- Developing intercultural competence through multicultural teamwork
Teaching methods: lectures, groupwork on a real company case in multicultural teams, small individual tasks online, cultural activities to experience Finland, individual reflective essay
Virtual section (3 x 1.5h sessions) in April + Physical mobility in Lappeenranta incl.100% attendance
Grading: pass/fail
