Software Engineering Master’s orientation - Lappeenranta

Orientation days for students starting their studies @ LUT Lappeenranta campus in international programmes (taught in English) are organized from 25th to 28th of August 2026. For detailed orientation schedule, scroll down.

You may already join our Newcomers group to get to know other new students and also meet some of our current students. Instructions for joining are on Starting Studies -page.

Orientation is compulsory for all new students! The orientation sessions, common to all programmes, are held on campus. Orientation can also be attended remote if an accepted prohibitive reason out of your control demands it, or if you are sick during the orientation, and you are not able to be on campus. However, on-site participation is strongly recommended. There is no possibility to attend the programme specific orientation sessions remotely.

Note! Online orientation is only for those feeling sick during the orientation or not yet in Finland (for some coercive reason only) during the orientation.

Time: 13:00, 14:00 and 14:30 — Buses to the City Hall depart from the main entrance of LUT. The event runs from 15:00 to 16:30/17:00.

The event includes a Lappeenranta city tour before heading to the event venue. Tour buses will depart at approximately 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., as they fill up. The last bus, departing at 2:30 p.m., will not include a city tour.

Place: Lappeenranta City Hall (Villimiehenkatu 1, 53100 Lappeenranta). There is no arranged transportation back to the university.

Event description: The City of Lappeenranta and a bunch of partners invite you as a new student to a fantastic student event in Lappeenranta City Hall. We will serve you with an interesting programme, student offers and tips on things to do in Lappeenranta. Event is held in English. You are welcome to attend the event!

At the Student Fair, representatives from the university and key stakeholders important to students will be present to introduce themselves to new students. Students are free to explore the fair at their own pace. A tour at fair takes approximately one to two hours.

Housing Clinic for Newcomers (LUT & LAB) - Bring Your Own Device!

LUT organizes a housing clinic together with LOAS and Lappeenrannan Asuntopalvelu in room 7339 (LUT University).
The aim of the clinic is to help students without permanent housing to get more information about their housing situation and about housing possibilities. New students can possibly find a roommate at the clinic to apply for an apartment together.

Participating in the housing clinic doesn’t necessarily get the student an apartment but helps to figure out possible solutions and clear out misconceptions about the housing situation in Lappeenranta.
