Support for Study Planning
Study counselors, study advisors, and academic advisors are here to support you. Their contact details are available on the Guidance page.
Contacting Programme Staff
If you have a problem or simply a question related to courses or their components, always start by contacting the course’s responsible teacher; you can find their details in the SISU service under the course information.
If that teacher is no longer working in LUT’s Software Engineering department, or is on an extended leave or research visit abroad, or if the matter concerns the degree programme or the course more broadly, you can also contact the head of the program of your major as follows:
- Lappeenranta Bachelor students: Associate Professor Antti Knutas
- Lappeenranta Software Engineering major students: Associate Professor Jussi Kasurinen
- Lappeenranta Responsible Information Systems Development major students: Associate Professor Prabhat Kumar
- Lahti Bachelor students: Professor Maria Paasivaara
- Lahti Software Product Management and Business major students: Associate Professor Andrey Saltan
- Lahti Digital Services and System Development major students: Associate Professor Dominik Siemon
If the matter concerns multiple programmes or the entire Software Engineering department, or in general, you can always contact the head of the degree programmes, who is Associate Professor Jussi Kasurinen.
Always use your LUT email address when contacting staff. For data privacy reasons, teachers do not respond to messages or meeting requests sent from non-LUT addresses.
Programme Communication Channels
The LUT Software Engineering degree programme communicates key information, such as teaching assistant positions and summer jobs, via email sent to your LUT email address. These messages come from software-allstudents(at)lists.lut.fi, and usually show the staff member who wrote the message as the sender, most often Jussi Kasurinen.
On social media, the department uses the hashtag #lutsoftware, and it also has active accounts on several media platforms.
