FAQ on language studies

1. How many students are taken to language courses?

The minimum number of students in language course groups is 13. If there are less students, the group could be cancelled. The maximum number of students is announced at the course description on Sisu.

The students to whom the course is compulsory are taken to the course first. After that the students are accepted according to the time of registration.

Full courses can be closed before the last registration date.

2. I am a LUT student. What do I do if I want to enrol late?

Contact the language teacher by email ( NB. firstname.lastname@lab.fi) and ask permission. Then send the information about the permission and your late enrolment to opinto@lut.fi. The student services will add your enrolment to Sisu.

3. I feel that my English language skills are not good enough. Can I get any help?

You can enrol on KE00CC64 English Prep Course. The course consists of English grammar and general vocabulary. It cannot be included in your mandatory language studies.

4. I am a student at LUT. How can I give course feedback on a course organised by the Language Center?

The Language Center is part of the LAB UAS organisation. LUT students respond to the Language Center's course feedback survey via a personalised survey link sent by email, in accordance with LAB policy. Language Center course feedback questionnaires are not available in Moodle in the same way as the questionnaires of LUT courses.

An email message will automatically be posted on the opening day of the feedback survey and a reminder will be sent on the end day of the course in case the student has not yet filled it in. In addition to this, the teacher can send further reminders.

According to LAB's course feedback policy, students who provide feedback will not be awarded extra points for grading. Even at LUT, this policy is not applicable to all courses, it is only applied in some degree programmes and for some courses at the discretion of the degree programme or the teacher.
