Internationalisation and student exchange

As a LUT student, now is probably your best chance of expand your world with new international experiences - which can be gained either abroad or at home! Develop your intercultural competence, make lifelong friendships, sample new culinary treats  and learn new things and study fields, in new ways.

Being a student at KU Leuven University in Brussels has been one of the best choices I have made in my life. At first, moving abroad felt scary and everything was new, but now this place feels like a second home, and I wish I could stay here longer.

The university offers an excellent academic environment with great professors and fellow students from all around the world. Studying here is truly inspiring and rewarding. I am grateful for the experiences during this incredible journey. Exchange is not just half a year of your life – it's a whole life in half a year.

Internationalization is for everyone

As an exchange student, you get a wonderful and career-enhancing opportunity to move abroad for - and get paid for it! Exchange studies and other forms of internationalization are meant for everyone: for example, a wheelchair or children are not an obstacle, and in the Erasmus+ programme special groups can receive a larger grant.

You can make your international experience exactly what you want. Alternatives can be found from far-away exotic places to more familiar neighboring countries, and in addition to semester-long exchanges, there is also support for shorter periods, for example summer courses, and internships.

The exchange may even speed up your graduation, as most students can be rewarded with 4–6 additional credits that can be included in your LUT degree's language studies (the inclusion is planned together with your LUT study counsellor): for example, 30 ECTS at the exchange university could appear as 34 ECTS on your Sisu record!
