Exchange study grants

LUT students selected for exchange studies receive an exchange study grant. The main conditions for it are taking the required amount of credits and being able to include the credits in one's LUT degree. The grant will be paid in full in the beginning of the exchange semester.

Different types of grants

The grant type and amount depend on the destination. For European universities the grant is usually higher than for non-European ones.

  • Nearly all LUT's European partner universities are part of the Erasmus+ programme funded by the European Commission. For these universities, students receive the Erasmus+ grant. The exceptions are two Norwegian universities (BI and NHH), for which the students receive the NOREK grant.
  • Students going on exchange outside Europe get the 1500 € LUT exchange study grant. The exception is Saint Mary's University in Canada, for which the students get the Erasmus+ Global grant (more information below).

Regardless of the grant type, the application is always done in the same way: by filling in the application form on LUT Mobility-Online. Application for the grant is possible only after you have received formal acceptance from the receiving university, completed your learning agreement (detailed course plan), and you know the exact start and end dates of your study period.
