Current on Ukraine’s situation and it’s affects to our operations
Russia has invaded Ukraine on Thursday 24th February 2022. Ukraine is now at war. Both LUT and LAB show their support to Ukraine and especially to the academic community. We join Finland’s and EU’s statement and condemn Russia’s actions.
Travelling to Ukraine, Russia or Belarus
According to travel recommendations of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, there’s a terrorism threat everywhere in Russia and the security situation has worsened. We recommend avoiding all travels to Ukraine, Russia or Belarus.
You can find up-to-date travel recommendations on the website of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (https://um.fi/frontpage).
Exchange students
There are a few LUT’s and LAB’s exchange students in Russia. They have all been contacted on Thursday. Currently there are no exchange students in Ukraine or Belarus.
According to travel recommendations of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, there’s a terrorism threat everywhere in Russia and the security situation has worsened. It’s impossible to predict further developments, but we strongly recommend students to consider intermitting their exchange and coming back home.
We are following the situation carefully. If we receive any instructions from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finnish National Agency for Education or other authorities, we will act accordingly and send further instructions.
We also ask you to follow the news and other announcements and file a travel notification, if you haven’t already done so: https://matkustusilmoitus.fi/
