This will get you started in using the various systems of the LUT universities (= LUT University + LAB University of Applied Sciences):

  1. First, activate your LUT account and set a password for it. At the same time, read the IT rules that you are required to agree to follow when activating your account. Read also the instructions on data protection and information security. Be careful with your LUT password and never give it to anyone under any circumstances.

  2. With your LUT account you can log in to the LUT (= LUT and LAB) systems you need.
    • E-mail: you will have access to the institution's email box (@student.lut.fi or @student.lab.fi) as soon as you have activated your LUT account.
    • In Moodle, you can find course material and return assignments, for example.
    • Sisu (LUT students) or Peppi (LAB students), you can, for example, register for courses and some exams, check your performance and make a personal study plan (PSP).
    • In TimeEdit you can, for example, view the timetables of courses, rooms or people.
    • EXAM is an electronic exam system where students can take an exam at a selected time that fits their schedule, which has been set into the system by the responsible teacher. The exams are taken in separate exam rooms, equipped with a computer for taking the exam and a recording system for monitoring the exam.
    • Turnitin is a text similarity checker used in some courses and in all LUT theses.
    • Zoom is a video conferencing system that can be used for distance learning, online meetings and webinars.
    • You can also use Echo360 and Webropol.

  3. Check the hardware recommendations for the computer you will need for your studies before you buy one.

  4. Through the Eduroam network, you can connect to the internet on your laptop or other mobile device on campus. The easiest and safest way to connect to eduroam is to use the installer.

  5. You can install Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) on your own computer or mobile device, or you can access them via a web browser or on campus computers.

  6. You can use the software you need for your studies in campus computer equipped classrooms or even from the comfort of your own home via the LUT VDI remote access service.

  7. You can print from campus computers or from your own device. First buy a print quota from the LUTShop online shop. Printer drivers are pre-installed on campus computers. From your own device, you print by emailing the files to the print server.

  8. You can change your LUT password with your current password via the LUT password service (https://id.lut.fi/)

  9. When you have a question or problem with IT, first check to see if you can find the answer in our IT FAQ. You can also contact Student IT Support Services either by email, phone or by visiting the Student IT Helpdesk.
