Before the start of your BIP course, you must register in LUT Mobility-Online. Registration is mandatory for all BIP participants.

Please use your home institution student email address when registering in Mobility-Online. Personal email addresses (such as Gmail, Hotmail, or similar services) should only be used if a student email address is not available.

Based on your registration, LUT will create your student status for the duration of the course, issue your official acceptance letter, and provide you with the necessary access rights to LUT’s student systems. These steps are required for completing your course at LUT, and they cannot be completed without a completed Mobility-Online registration.

You will receive registration instructions directly from International Mobility Services by email. Please follow the instructions carefully and make sure to complete the registration by the given deadline.

Please note that the Mobility-Online registration process consists of several steps. After submitting the initial registration form, you must still log in to Mobility-Online using the link sent to your email and provide additional required information and documents in your application. Please do not wait until the last day to complete your registration, as the process includes multiple steps.

All BIP participants must complete a Learning Agreement (LA) before the course starts.

LUT uses the Digital/Online Learning Agreement (DLA/OLA) as the primary format. A PDF version can only be signed upon request from your home institution coordinator.

Your home institution coordinator will send the DLA/OLA to LUT electronically. Please complete your Learning Agreement according to the instructions provided by your home institution and using their designated system.

If your Learning Agreement requires corrections or changes, do not create a new Learning Agreement. All updates and modifications must be made to the original Learning Agreement.

LUT International Mobility Services will sign students’ Learning Agreements. Requests for signing a PDF version can be sent to shortmobility@lut.fi.

Please note that the Learning Agreement must be signed by all parties before the course starts.

As a BIP participant, you are registered as an exchange student at LUT University for the duration of your course.

You are expected to follow LUT University's rules and regulations as well as the instructions provided by the course teacher. Finnish study culture values punctuality, independence, and mutual respect. Please arrive on time for classes and other scheduled activities and follow the instructions provided by the course teacher.

You are also entitled to student-priced lunches at LUT's campus restaurants. The subsidised student lunch price is only a few euros. Your course teacher will provide you with a Kela meal subsidy card, which allows you to purchase meals at this price during your BIP stay.

Information regarding the course schedule, classrooms, campus facilities, meals, and other practical arrangements will be provided by the LUT course teacher. If you have questions related to the course, please contact the course teacher first.

LUT University primarily uses Moodle as the learning platform. Course materials, assignments, deadlines, and other course-related information are available in Moodle.

You will receive guest access credentials for LUT Moodle before the course starts or at the latest on the first day of the course. Instructions for activating your account will be sent to the email address you used to register in Mobility-Online.

In addition to Moodle, or instead of Moodle, some courses may use Howspace as a learning platform. Howspace does not require a separate login.

Lappeenranta

Lappeenranta is a medium-sized university city in South-Eastern Finland with a population of approximately 75,000. Located on the shores of Lake Saimaa, the city offers a unique combination of modern student life, beautiful nature, and a relaxed atmosphere.

LUT University is an important part of the city and is located in a peaceful lakeside area surrounded by nature. The campus is situated approximately 6 kilometres from the city centre and is easily accessible by local bus.

Lappeenranta is known for its historic Fortress area, picturesque harbour, and excellent outdoor opportunities. The city centre offers a variety of cafés, restaurants, shops, and services, while nature is never far away.

Arriving to Lappeenranta

Lappeenranta can be reached from Helsinki by train in approximately two hours. Several trains operate daily between Helsinki and Lappeenranta, making train travel a convenient option for arriving in the city. Timetables, tickets, and pricing information are available on the VR website.

Getting around Lappeenranta

Lappeenranta Travel Centre (train and bus station) is connected to the LUT campus by local bus number 5. From the city centre, you can reach the campus by buses 1, 1X, and 5. Bus routes and timetables are available here: Jouko reittiopas.

A single bus ticket costs approximately a few euros. Tickets can be purchased directly on the bus using a payment card or through the local public transport mobile app. More information is available here.

If you require medical treatment during your stay, please also contact your insurance provider for guidance on coverage and claim procedures. Students from EU/EEA countries are advised to carry a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), if applicable.

Certificate of Attendance

Participants will receive a printed Certificate of Attendance (CoA) on the last day of the course. A PDF version can also be provided upon request. If you need a PDF version, please contact shortmobility@lut.fi or the course teacher.

Transcript of Records

The Transcript of Records (ToR) will be issued after all course requirements have been completed and the course teacher has assessed the course performance.

According to LUT University's assessment regulations, assessment results must normally be released within 30 days of the completion and submission of the final course assignment. For study attainments completed in December, the assessment period may be up to 45 days.

The Transcript of Records will be sent to students by email from shortmobility@lut.fi. If your Transcript of Records also needs to be sent to your home institution coordinator or Erasmus+ office, please inform us.
