Study guidance and counseling
Study counselling at Lappeenranta campus without an appointment:
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 15:00*. NOTE: June, July and August study counselling is available only by making an appointment.
* from 1 September to 17 December 2026 and from 12 January to 27 May 2027.
Study counselling is available only by making an appointment during these periods:
from 19 to 23 October 2026 (week 43)
from 1 to 5 March 2027 (week 9)

Study counselling at Lahti campus without an appointment:
Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 16:00. Changes possible and will be announced in eLUT and on the study counsellor' office door.

For any questions related to your studies, you get personal guidance and counseling from the study counsellor and study advisor of your degree program. In questions of your professional development you will be guided by the academic advisor of your degree program.

Study counsellor
Study counsellor helps you in the following matters:
- general study guidance and counseling
- reviewing, counseling and general guidance regarding personal study plan (PSP)
- credit transfer (inclusion or replacement) from previous studies or studies completed elsewhere
- applications for the extension of your study right

Study advisor
Study advisor is a student at LUT University who helps you with practical matters related to your studies:
- enrolments to courses and examinations in Sisu
- late enrolment
- questions related to courses (e.g. scheduling your study plan)

Academic Advisor
An Academic Advisor represents the degree programme and is a familiar person for the student, with whom they can discuss their study goals as well as topics related to research, the field, and professional development. The advisor supports the student’s learning path and helps them connect their studies with future career goals. Academic advisors are typically professors or lecturers.
